Julian D'Cruz, DVM
Dr D'Cruz had his beginnings in the deserts of Dubai where his fascination for falcons and other raptors began, followed by a move across the world to the frozen tundra of Toronto. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto in Neuroscience and Integrative biology with a focus on entomology, working with the sweet and cuddly Latrodectus ( widow) spider species.
During his undergraduate, he spent some time at the Toronto humane society where he first discovered what being a veterinarian meant to the animals and the people who care for them. His passion for physiology and anatomy drove him to the medical field, and his time with animals ultimately led him into veterinary medicine.
Dr D'Cruz attended St Matthew's University in the Cayman Islands working on giant turtles, dolphins, green iguanas, and stingrays after which he completed clinical studies in the Twin Cities in Minnesota , graduating in 2016. During his clinical year, he also completed rotations in lab animal medicine and exotic animal medicine at Colorado State University, Cornell, and the University of Missouri which helped further his understanding of exotic animals. Upon graduation, he worked at a very busy 7 doctor practice for 7 years, growing his knowledge base and developing his skill sets.
He has since developed a passion for surgery, neurology, dermatology, and of course, loves his exotic species of all kinds. In his down time Dr D'Cruz enjoys caring for his garden, hiking, snowboarding, cooking with his wife and trying to keep his 2 excitable dogs, Winnie, and Tennessee entertained. Dr D'Cruz looks forward to continuing to learn more about the field of canine rehabilitation and sports medicine and eventually completing his CCRP certification as he grows his career at AHCM.
